Request for Pre-Qualification Opens for Casino Theatre

Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation, the provincial agency responsible for province wide lottery games and gaming facilities officially issued a Request for Pre-Qualification for bidders who want to develop a new entertainment complex attached to the Fallsview Casino in the third quarter of 2015. The RFPQ outlines an opportunity to design, build, finance and maintain a new, large-scale entertainment complex. OLG will pre-qualify proponents that have the required experience, skills and abilities to receive the request for proposal for the opportunity to build the facility. The City of Niagara Falls along with politicians and tourist officials have pushed for a 5,000- 7,000-seat entertainment theatre intended to attract larger concerts, shows and attractions. While the OLG took time to assess the marketplace for developing and financing a potential, privately-funded multi-purpose Niagara Falls entertainment Centre. OLG procured architectural services to design a program and provide cost estimates and has also hired a third party to review the process. The private-sector investment project would ensure long-term competitiveness of Casino Niagara and the Fallsview Casino Resort bringing in more than an extra million visitors a year to Niagara Falls and allowing further competition with Casino’s in New York State. The close of the request for pre-qualification on Feb. 25, OLG will evaluate the submissions. The Provincial Crown Corporation expects to release the request for proposal to pre-qualified proponents in the spring.‪ "It's another piece of the puzzle of taking us from a summer tourism destination to a year-round destination. It will also be a catalyst for more development, a catalyst for more cranes in the city."
