Niagara Parks Announces investment in new attraction: Redevelopment and Adaptive Reuse of Canadian N

Ontario Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries Lisa MacLeod and Niagara Parks Commission Board Chair Sandie Bellows announced a one of a kind attraction and significant investment. The project will transform the preserved decommissioned facility into an extraordinary new multi-faceted visitor experience, which will preserve and showcase this culturally significant landmark, while creating an iconic new attraction for Niagara Falls.

This project to redevelop the Canadian Niagara Power Generating Station represents an opportunity to build an iconic new attraction in Niagara that will create jobs and help deliver an amazing double bottom line – generating revenue for the Commission and attracting tourists to the region.

The innovative project is envisioned as a foundational piece of Niagara Parks’ 10-year strategic plan, that will position Niagara Parks as one of the most spectacular parks in the world. CNP will become a new experience, joining Niagara Parks’ other six attractions and open in two phases. Work is currently underway on Phase 1 of the project expected to open July 1, 2021, which will include interactive exhibits and a state-of-the-art immersive sound and light experience.

The adaptive reuse of CNP will provide an exciting new tourism driver for the region, while also continuing to deliver on Niagara Parks’ mandate of preserving and promoting the natural and cultural heritage along the Niagara River Corridor.
