Niagara Falls Culture Hub & Farmers Market Square

Niagara Falls Culture Hub & Farmers Market Square

The Kick-Off Meeting to redevelop the Sylvia Place Market took place August 15, 2018 with CNF and consultants Dtah, and 360. Part of the City’s Cultural Plan incorporates a large meeting space for art, music, food, for the community use and pleasure, and it was approved by Council to combine Arts & Culture with the Market Square in one mixed use facility. The current location of the Market Square serves this concept well located in the heart of Canadian historical significance at (Lundy’s Lane) Main & Ferry - Drummond Hill next to the Niagara Falls History Museum and the Battlefield Museum which will serve as a historical gateway/hub providing symbols of the importance of art, culture, and heritage for the community.

Stakeholders were engaged in studies covering Education & Research, Vibrancy, Artist Space, and Social Enterprise. The vision for space resulted in a Farmers Market, Market Hall, Café and Lounge, Demonstration Kitchen, Classrooms, Art Studios, Workshop, and Tool Library all housed in a new conjoined two-story building with a one-story building totaling approximately 14,000 sq. ft. gross floor area. The vision provides for an open and vibrant space for locals to meet, community arts and culture programming, and festival and event space.
