Important Update from Service Canada - Increase to Number of Weeks for Canada Recovery Benefits and

The Government of Canada continues to modify and enhance its programs and services to support Canadians while respecting public health measures. We know that Canadians are making difficult but important sacrifices throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure their own health and safety, as well as the health and safety of their families and communities across the country.

To ensure that Canadians continue to have access to supports during this time, the Government of Canada has introduced legislation and regulatory amendments to increase the number of weeks of benefits available under the Canada Recovery Benefits and Employment Insurance (EI) regular benefits. Bill C-24, the proposed legislation, received Royal Assent on March 17, 2021.

By increasing the number of weeks of benefits available under the Canada Recovery Benefits and EI, the Government of Canada is continuing to support Canadian workers through the next phase of the pandemic recovery. Additional changes are also included under the legislation.

Attached you will find a handout in both official languages that includes additional information and details about these changes. Please feel free to share this message and the accompanying handouts widely across your respective networks.
