Provincial Online Training Programs for Workers
| INFECTIOUS DISEASE FREE TRAINING TRAINING VIA VIDEO CONFERENCING CERTIFICATION RENEWAL EXTENSION | Province to offer infection control training. The Ford government announced on Friday a $3 million investment in a new online training program for Ontario workers looking to join (job seekers) or return to the workplace. The program will cover topics such as infection control in addition to more standard job safety lessons such as preventing slips and falls. Up to 100,000 Ontarians will be eligible to take part in the program. It will be delivered in part through live video conferencing with instructors. "This is good for business confidence and it is good for consumer confidence," Ford said. There are 10 courses on offer, which include: infection control, conducting health and safety incident investigations, ladder safety, slips, trips and falls prevention, and preventing workplace violence and harassment. In addition, worker and employer members of Joint Health and Safety Committees can use video conferencing to take training in real-time with instructors from training providers approved by Ontario’s Chief Prevention Officer. The training includes sessions on how to establish a Health and Safety Committee, resolving health and safety issues, workplace inspections, and accident investigations. Ontario’s Chief Prevention Officer is extending the time for completion of refresher training for more than 8,000 certified committee members whose certification would have expired between February 28 and August 31, 2020. | INFECTIOUS DISEASE TRAINING Online Novice ICP Course | Online Novice ICP Course - Applications for the 2020-2021 session are now closed. Registration for the 2021-22 session will open in January 2021. This course runs from September to June each year. Preference for admission will be given to novice infection prevention and control professionals (less than 2 years' experience).
