Ontario Moves Niagara, Niagara Falls to Red-Control

In consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health and local medical officers of health, the Ontario government is moving the Niagara Region, including Niagara Falls, to Level Red-Control at 12:01 a.m. Monday, December 21 as part of the Keeping Ontario Safe and Open Framework

While this doesn’t mean your business will be ordered closed, the public health measures and restrictions may impact operations.

What this means for you

As a result of moving into the Red-Control level, measures from the previous levels remain in place and the following additional measures will come into effect December 21. Your business may already have these measures in place:

Restaurant, Bars and Food and Drink Establishments

  • Maximum number of patrons permitted to be seated indoors is 10
  • Outdoor dining, take out, drive through, and delivery permitted, including alcohol
  • Dancing, singing and the live performance of music are prohibited


Event and Meeting Spaces

  • Maximum of 10 people per facility indoors or 25 people outdoors


Sports and recreational fitness facilities

  • Gyms and fitness studios permitted to be open:
    • Maximum of 10 people indoors or 25 people outdoors in classes
    • 10 people indoors in areas with weights or exercise equipment
  • Team sports must not be practiced or played except for training (no games or scrimmage)
  • Activities that are likely to result in individuals coming within 2m of each other are not permitted


Retail

  • Maximum number of patrons permitted to be seated indoors in mall food court is 10
  • Requirement to maintain 2m while standing in line (inside and outside)


Organized Public Events, Social Gatherings, and Religious Services, Rites and Ceremonies

  • Gathering limit for all organized public events and social gatherings:
    • 5 people indoors
    • 25 people outdoors
  • Note: Limits for wedding services, funeral services and other religious services, rites or ceremonies same as previous level.
