Niagara South Hospital

Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Infrastructure Ontario, Niagara Health System, St. Joseph’s Health System Hamilton, McMaster Faculty of Health Sciences in Hamilton, The Vector Institute, and The City of Niagara Falls have formed a Public-Private Partnership (P3) to design-build-finance a new 1.4 million square foot hospital located on Montrose Road @ Biggar & Lyon’s Creek Road(s) in the south end of Niagara Falls. The government committed $10 million to create the new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre of Excellence at the hospital. AI has the potential to transform patient outcomes and quality of care by providing clinicians with powerful tools to identify cancer, pneumonia and heart disease risk, monitoring patients, and helping identify the most effective drugs for individuals based on their personal genome. The new hospital is expected to include Programs such as Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Mental Health and Addictions, Geriatric/Psychogeriatric, Wellness in Aging, Complex Care, Kidney Service, Diagnostic & Therapeutic Service, Cardiac/Stroke, and Surgical Services. Niagara Health's mission for the new Niagara South Hospital plan is, “Extraordinary Care – Extraordinary Environment”. The design/build of the hospital is near Stage 3 of 6 of the plan with expectation to open by 2023.
