Niagara Regional Council Appoints New Chief Administrative Officer

October 31, 2016

On behalf of Regional Council, I am pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective October 31, 2016.

At a Special Meeting of Regional Council held Monday afternoon, Council appointed Carmen D’Angelo, former CAO of the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority, to serve as the Region’s next CAO starting November 14, 2016.

Carmen has held senior leadership positions in both the municipal and healthcare sectors. Carmen has a strong understanding of Niagara’s economic, social and political environment, having worked closely with Niagara’s 12 municipalities and surrounding areas as CAO of the NPCA. He has developed excellent working relationships with many Members of Regional Council that sit on the NPCA Board.

During the six-month recruitment period, our Corporate Management Team and Acting CAO Maurice Lewis have worked hard moving forward Regional Council’s Strategic Plan and our key priorities.

Carmen’s leadership in informing and proactively advising elected officials will certainly be well received by our Regional Council. Council looks forward to working closely with Carmen and the Corporate Leadership Team and indeed each and every one of the Region’s employees to foster an environment of economic prosperity across our Niagara.

Our organization is united, working together, developing solutions to the basic needs and pressing issues facing Niagara residents. I thank you for your commitment to work with co-workers across the Region and move Niagara forward.

I ask that you join me in welcoming Carmen to the Niagara Region and offer him your full support as he transitions into this leadership role.

Sincerely,

Alan Caslin

Regional Chair
