City of Niagara Falls Update: March 24, 2020

City of Niagara Falls playgrounds, fitness equipment and skateboard park to close immediately to help fight the spread of COVID-19.

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - March 24, 2020. Effective today, all playgrounds within the City of Niagara Falls parks are closed to the public to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Fitness equipment (located at Thorold Stone Road and Stanley Avenue) and the Skateboard Park (located at the MacBain Community Centre) are also closed.

These additional measures are necessary and will help reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 to those most vulnerable in the community.

Signage at over 90 of the City's parks indicating these closures will be installed by the end of the week.

These closures are aligned with Niagara Region Public Health's strong direction to residents to practice social distancing and avoid gathering in public settings.

At this time, trails remain open in Niagara Falls. Residents are reminded to keep to social distancing protocol, keeping at least 6 feet between yourself and others.
